What is ABA therapy
The goal of ABA is for your child to be happier, feel understood and function independently – within a neurotypical world.
Who’s who and what’s what

ABA stands for Applied Behavior Analysis.
ABA is an approach to understanding and changing behavior. It’s not a specific therapy itself, but a range of different strategies and techniques that can be used to teach people with autism new skills and stop harmful behaviors.
BCBA stands for Board Certified Behavior Analyst
All certified behavior analysts have completed coursework specific to behavior analysis, completed at least 1,000 hours of supervised field work experience, and passed a board exam. Certified behavior analysts complete continuing education credits to maintain their certification. The BCBA oversees all treatment and supervises everyone that is working with the patient to ensure the patient is receiving the appropriate care + achieving the best outcomes.
RBT stands for Registered Behavior Technician.
RBT, known as the therapist, is an individual who implements behavior-analytic services to patients and clients under the close supervision of a BCBA. The RBT/ABA therapist is the one who works directly with your child in your home.
More than 20 studies have established that intensive and long-term therapy using ABA principles improves outcomes for many children with autism with gains in cognitive, language and communication, daily living skills and social functioning.
